Code for Sustainable Homes (CSH)
It is mandatory for publicly funded homes to achieve a CSH Level 3 rating, and for all new residential buildings to be rated against the CSH (albeit achieving a level of the CSH remains voluntary at this stage).
However, Part L of the 2010 Building Regulations requires all new residential buildings to achieve a 25% reduction over the 2006 Part L target CO2 emission rate (equating to a Level 3 compliant ‘Dwelling Emission Rate’ in the CSH Assessment under ‘ENE1’).
Part G of the 2010 Building Regulations requires all new residential buildings to achieve a maximum water usage of no more than 125 litres per person per day (broadly equivalent to CHS level 1 and 2 under ‘WAT1” – ‘Water’).
Local planning authorities often aspire to new homes being designed, constructed, and certified to a level of the CSH assessment. Carrying out a CSH assessment will ensure that these standards are achieved as part of the design process, and the Pioneer team of licensed CSH Assessors will be happy to discuss your CSH requirements and undertake assessments on your behalf.
Pioneer is also licensed to undertake EcoHomes assessments.
