||17 February 2012
The Communities and Local Government ("CLG") confirms that:
a) The Affordable Rent tenure is not dependent upon Homes and Communities Agency investment.
b) The absence of grant funding in respect of Social Rented homes means that this tenure is 'rarely' likely to be 'feasible', and that local authorities will need to be 'flexible if they want to see significant provision of new affordable homes in their areas'.
c) Local Authorities are 'not empowered to change registered providers' rent decisions'.
